Polar explorers and climate change champions Dr Geoff Wilson AM and his son, 22-year-old Kitale, were farewelled by 200 family and friends, supporters and the adventure community as they boarded their net-zero vessel Nanook X for a two-year odyssey that will take them from the South Pole to the North Pole.

Dometic joins the Project Zero team, alongside other leading sustainability-focused companies on their journey to promote climate change awareness. As a partner, Dometic will provide its technology and gear to support the challenging journey across the Antarctic.

Project Zero is a Net-Zero Docu-Series documenting the voyage of two adventurers as they explore some of the world’s most isolated and vulnerable environments.

Geoff Wilson is a family man and veterinary surgeon as well as a world-class polar explorer and expeditioner. He currently holds 6 world records for a variety of grueling expeditions from sand to snow. Wilson and three crewmates, including his 22-year-old son Kitale, will explore the world’s most isolated and vulnerable environments. Kitale is a multi-award-winning cinematographer, and an established explorer in his own right.

“We need great story tellers and content creators to be able to capture and tell the story of what’s happening in our world today. People only want to protect what they know; therefore we need to get the message out there.” Says Wilson at the recent panel meeting.

From the South Pole to the North Pole, the duo will document the visible impact of global warming on these landscapes and engage with the world’s leading climate scientists, advocates, and initiatives.

The project aims to transcend generational barriers, as a father imparts his lived experience of polar exploration, and a son seeks new perspective amidst growing tensions in a warming world.

“We are proud to be supporting such a historical expedition. This project aligns with Dometic’s commitment to driving sustainability, energy conservation and emission reduction in our industry. This is exactly where we want to be, working alongside the pioneers in the sustainability and climate field. As pioneers in the mobile living industry, we hope to inspire more conscious adventuring and promote climate change and conservation of our world for generations to come.” Said Eric Fetchko, Dometic Marine Segment President. “It is fantastic to see how products are thriving in the harshest of environments, and being used by the crew who will put this to the test in the extreme elements.”

As part of the launch campaign, Asia Pacific Marketing Manager Claire Meredyth and the Dometic Marine team worked closely with Kitale and Geoff Wilson to equip their vessel with the suitable gear, create a branded uniform and continue to produce unique localized content that will be rolled out and delivered across the duration of the expedition and beyond.

The branding uniform and pieces also supported media meetings and interviews including the most recent Channel 9, Channel 7, The Today Show, Triple M and National Geographic features.
